ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND

EUS stands for Endoscopic ultrasound, which allows our doctor to examine your esophageal and stomach linings as well as the walls of your gastrointestinal tract. The upper tract or area includes the esophagus, stomach and duodenum and the lower tract consists of your colon and rectum and EUS is also used to take a look at other organs which are near the gastrointestinal tract, along with the lungs, gall bladder, pancreas and liver.

ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND IN KURNOOL

A EUS is a type of endoscopic procedure. It consists of the insertion of a thin tube into the mouth and down into the stomach and the first part of the small intestine. On the tip of the tube is a small ultrasound probe that emits sound waves. These sound waves jump off of the surrounding structures, which travels from the stomach, small gut, pancreas, liver and bile ducts.

These sound waves are recaptured by the probe and transformed into black and white pictures that are interpreted by our doctor. Due to fact, the pancreas is located next to the stomach and small intestine, EUS allows doctor to get certain images of the pancreas

Before the Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) doctors will suggest you not to take any food items or not to drink water, 6 hours before treatment and the procedure take 30 to 45 minutes to complete its process. It is a short time procedure and it doesn’t require much time. This procedure can be done in a very short period.
