ERCP stands for Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is a process to diagnose and treat the issues in the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and bile ducts. It uses an x-ray and the usage of endoscope.

ERCP is a method that allows your doctor to see the small tubes inside your body called the pancreatic and bile ducts. Those tubes are close to your stomach. They create digestive juices from your liver and pancreas to the intestines.

Endoscope is going through your mouth into your stomach and duodenum then doctor examines CBD/PD.

Few Indications for ERCP

  • Jaundice due to common bile duck stones Bile duct malignancy
  • Chronic pancreatic with pancreatic duck stones
  • Bile leak after cholecystectomy
